Pets & Peeps: Spending Time Together

Disclosure: I was compensated by Nutrish for this post. However, all thoughts, opinions and experiences are my own.

Hi everybuddy! Well, first, I just want to point out that I, Mayzie, was the ORIGINAL Nutrish Ambassadog in this family. But it seems El Smudgo has been getting all the glory lately as DiploCat.

Honest, it really doesn’t bother me all that much. I’m pretty good at sharing. But when Nutrish asked us to write about how we spend time together, I told Smudge that this postie was ALL MINE.

Now there’s lots of ways that mom and dad and Ranger and me spend time together. We go for walks and we hang out on the couch and we go on picnics and we help mom work. All super funball times.

But as you guys prolly know, one of the Most Fun and Exciting things we do together is go on our Shall-Ay Adventures. When we’re off in our Shall-Ay, there’s no phones or tee-vees or ‘puters or anything. It’s just us, hanging out as a family, going for hikes and just relaxing. It’s GREAT!

Most unfortunately, it’s been awhile since we got to go Shall-Aying but I realized we never did share abouts our last trip. So I thought this would be the PAWFECT time to do it!

This last time, we went to a place called the Angel of Shavano campground near a town called Salida here in Collie-rado.

Gosh, was it ever pretty! It mighta been one of the prettiest ones we’ve been to so far. And you know what else was great about it? There’s something called the Colorado Trail that runs right through it!

Now the Colorado Trail is 500 miles long and goes all the way from Denver to Durango. So, um, we did NOT do that. We just did a teensy part of it but it was super duper cool! Well, actually, it was a little hot but we thought it was great!

The next day, all of a sudden the temperatures were WAY cooler and it got kinda rainy. So mom and dad said that we were going to drive to a place called Monarch Pass.

Monarch Pass is located on something called the Continental Divide at 11,312 feet. So we were WAY up there!

monarch pass overlookThey have what they call a “tram” that’ll take you all the way up to the tippy top of the mountain. And guess what? They let dogs ride, too! And guess what else? As soon as I saw that contraption, I told mom and dad and Brudder Ranger there was NO WAY they were getting me on it.

So since it was so nice and cool and cloudy, they let me and Brudder Ranger stay in the truck and they rode that kerazy thing to the top. When they got back, mom was all, “Oh, LOOK how beautiful it was, Mayzie! You totes shoulda gone.”

Have I mentioned my mom is cuckoo??

Anyway, when we got back, we went on another little hike on the Colorado Trail and then konked out for the night.

The next day, it was bright and sunny again but we had to pack up and come home. I sure wish we coulda stayed longer.

Oh, well, mom says we’ve got another adventure coming up pretty soon and I can hardly wait to see where we go next!

Yep, spending time with our humans is pretty pawsome! I bet you love to spend time with yours, too!

Your turn: What do YOU like to do best with your humans? I’d love it if you’d leave me a comment and let me know!

  1. Mayzie what beautiful photos of your last Shallay adventure. You 4 have the best times.
I, Madi, love to stare at mom when she is eating her Cheerios…and when I stare long enough and keep inching closer and closer to her…somehow Cheerios fall off the spoon on to the table and that my friend is a Win-Win kinda day
    Hugs madi your bfff

  2. Me and Teka like to SLEEP with the pawrents. And then get them up EARLY in the morning and go on long walkies.

  3. Frankie and Ernie says:

oMD OMD Mayzie and Brudder Ranger….. you were WAY WAY at the top of the world… We have heard that it makes you EYES POP… is that TRUE??? OR is it just a Blogville Legend.

  4. WOWSA!!! Okays, furst, your trailer is WAY COOL!!!! OMD, our neighbors down the street have one kinda like it and Ma just wants to borrow it and have an adventure!
That was one cool trip guys!! I knows your Moms is probably nuts, butts I thinks that might have been fun! Just thinks of all the barkin’ you could have done…burdies would have been shocked to hear doggies barkin’ in the sky!! BOL
Anyhu, I likes it when Ma plays ball with me!!!! She never does it long enough for my liking though!
    Ruby ♥

  5. I don’t blame you, Mayzie, I wouldn’t have gone in that tram thingy either!! I think my favorite thing to do with my momma is go fur walkies. We walk all over the neighborhood when the weather is nice, just me and her. We talk about all the pawesome things we see, and we chat with Bugs and his family whenever they hop on by. Sometimes we see other pups to talk to, and best of all KIDS will come running out shouting “Casey! Casey!” and pet me. Oh, I loves it so much!
