Disclaimer: Reenactment

So now I can’t remember ‘zactly word-for-word what it said so I’m just gonna go off of memory and I’m sure I’ll get close. But mom seems to think that’s not good enough and has INSISTED on putting in some things she calls “disclaimers” so just ignore those, okay?

Alrighty, here’s what I think it said:

Dearest Mayzie, (Disclaimer from mom: It wasn’t actually addressed to Mayzie)

My name is Rachael Ray (Disclaimer: It wasn’t actually from Miss Ray). I don’t know if you know who I am but I read your bloggie every single day (Disclaimer: this is doubtful) and I am a big, HUMONGOUS fan of yours (Disclaimer: Oh, forget it. Just assume almost everything in this letter is made up.). I don’t know if you’ve heard of this nifty pet blogger conference coming up called BlogPaws (Disclaimer: Okay, this is actually a real thing) and I would be just over the MOON if you would come as my guest. I’ll even order up some special cheese just for you! Let me know what you think. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Well, I literally fell on the floor with excitements!

See, I think Miss Rachael is the best. It’s pawsible she might actually luvs foodables as much as I do and the stuff she makes on TV looks DEE-lish! Oh, and I like the way she says, “YUMM-OH!” whenever she eats something she really likes.

Plus, she not only makes HUMAN noms, she makes dog noms, too!

Plus, she has a super Most Adorable pit bull named Isaboo.

PLUS, PLUS, PLUS (and this is the BEST plus!)…she has a program called Rachael’s Rescue where she donates some of the green papers she makes from her dog food to rescues like North Shore Animal League and BAD RAP.

Now, I was all set to pack my bags when I realized that I would have to fly on a plane to get to BlogPaws cuz it’s all the way in this place called Tyson’s Corner, Virginia. And between you and me, I think that there’s a reason the Big Brindle in the Sky didn’t give me wings. I’m pretty sure I’m s’posed to keep all four paws on the ground.

But THEN, I had a super great idea and so I wrote back asking if mom could come in my place. Well, as you can imagine, Miss Rachael was a teensy bit disappointed but she said okay. Isn’t that PAWSOME?

So off mom goes to BlogPaws next week courtesy of the super nice peoples at Nutrish! When I told her, I thought mom was gonna pee her pants she was so excited! She can’t wait to meet all the other crazy mentally well-balanced pet people and some of our bloggie furends in person! Plus, she knows she’s going to learn oodles of stuff while she’s there, too!

So thank you, thank you to Rachael Ray’s Nutrish for giving us this Most Amazing opportunity! And if any of you are going — or sending your mom or dad — let us know so mom can be on the lookout for you, okay?

And for those of you who aren’t going, there will be a pawty in my condo while mom’s away. But, um, let’s just let that be our little secret, okay?

This time, we were heading out to meet my Auntie K and Uncle C (and a couple of their furends) in a place called Palo Duro Canyon in a state named Texas.

On Thursday night, mom and dad got everything loaded and away we went with me navigating!

Now, we didn’t go all the way to Texas that first night. We stopped in another state called New Mexico. Now, I like New Mexico a lot cuz that’s where Auntie K and Uncle C used to live. So the next morning, when mom and dad said that we had to get going, I tried my best to convince them that we should just stay in New Mexico.

So while I worked my whiles on dad…

Wouldn’t you just rather hang out in New Mexico skritching me than get in the car and drive again?

Mom went to use the little girl’s room. And that’s when she saw THIS…

Mom thought there was a woeful lack of specific information on this sign.

By the time she got back, nothing I could say or do would make her stay in New Mexico! But I at least was able to talk them into taking us for a little hike first…

Did you hear that, Mom? I think it’s a RATTLER!

Where I found the Most AWESOMEST bone ever! But wouldn’t you know it? Mom wouldn’t let me keep it.

Mom and Dad promised that the trip would be worth it and there would be lots of scenery to see and places to sniff. And boy, were they right! THIS is the first thing we saw when we got there!

We spent the next couple of days hanging out with the humans…

And hiking and exploring and seeing the sights…

This was called a “Cowboy Dugout.” It had GREAT shade!

Before we knew it, our Super Funballs Shall-Ay Adventure was over and it was time to go home. I wonder where our Shall-Ay will take us next?

Or so I thought!

But then…THEN!…this showed up in my mailbox!

Isn’t it GAWJUSS?

It came from a place called RedEnvelope.com. They have all sorts of nifty gift-type thingies and now they have their very own pet line, too! This pawticular item is their Medium Personalized Pet Bowl with a bone design and my name etched in a script font.

Well, as you can imagine, I couldn’t WAIT to try it out and gives my opinion on it.

Nom nom nom.

WHAT WE LIKED ABOUT IT

The color is absolutely Most Beautiful. They also have red and blue, too!

The bowl is a teensy bit shallow BUT as you can see, it holds my 3/4 cup of  dry and wet noms with room left over.

It’s nice and heavy  so mom doesn’t feel like she could break it easy. (She’s kinda prone to breaking stuff.)

I think it maybe even makes my noms TASTE better!

WHAT MOM WISHES WAS DIFFERENT

As you can see from that picture below, it doesn’t have any little rubber feets on it. Mom thinks rubber feets would keep it from scootching around on our wood floors when I start licking the bowl (I have a mighty strong tongue). She also thinks they would protect the floors better.

Also, since it has holes in the bottom and no feets, mom’s not sure about putting it in the dishwasher (even though it’s dishwasher-safe). She thinks that water could get up in there pretty easy so she just washes it out by hand (which isn’t hard since I do the pre-rinse for her).

WHAT I WISH WAS DIFFERENT

The only thing I think could make it better is if it would magically fill up with noms again as soon as it got empty.

Empty bowls make me sad.

OVERALL RATING

We give it 3-1/2 outta 4 paws up! Good job, RedEnvelope peoples!

Now, we’re still in the pawcess of getting all the furniture arranged just how we like it. So over the next coupla weeks, you might see some things shift around here and there. But all-in-all, we seem to be settling in real good.

(That’s one room we’re still trying to get all unpacked but we’ve got a good start.)

We’re also gonna add a game room where we’ll have reviews and giveaways and stuff. So that should be oodles of fun!

Hey, Smudge! Smudge!

Uh, yes, Mayzie?

You left out my favoritest name that mom calls you: Smudge Pants!

Oh, haha. Yeah, um, so I wasn’t going to tell them that one.

Why not?

Well, it’s a little embarrassing, you know.

Oh, gosh, I think Smudgie Wudgems is WAY worse.

Okay, wow…thanks for helping me out, Mayzie.

Anytime, Smudge Pants.

Anyway, as I was saying, it’s been one whole year since I left my old job at HemoSolutions and moved in with my new family. And, well, I just couldn’t be happier.

Oh, sure…there have been some bumps along the way. And by bumps, I mean REAL bumps! Remember when I had chin acne?

OUCH!

Which meant I had to go visit my nice skin doctor lady about 87 million times. (But that was really okay cuz she gives the BEST massages.)

And then I broke out in hives from some of the medicines.

OUCH AGAIN!

And oh, yeah…I also found out I have ass-muh and they shaved me half-bald to do that skin test on me to see what I’m allergic to.

But honest…the good has outweighed all of that stuff by a LOT!

I have pawsome siblings to hang out with.

Even Queen Abby is starting to warm up to me.

I have fun toys to play with…

and cuddle with.

I’ve learned how to use the computer to help dad play his games…

and to watch movies…

and to blog…

and to just generally surf the web. (Pinterest is addicting!)

I have a great window to look out of…

and my very own tent…

and the Smudge-tastic-mobile.

And best of all, I know that I’m loved to the ends of the earth and back. (That’s what my mom says, and between you and me, that’s why I let her call me Smudge Pants whenever she wants.)

Yep, adopting my family was a pretty good decision on my part.

So Happy Gotcha Day to…
