Cat-tacular Nutrish News!

This post contains sponsored links from Rachael Ray Nutrish.

Hey everyone! Smudge here.

Okay, so you know how the Rachael Ray lady asked Mayzie to be a Nutrish Ambassadog?

Mayzie sash

Well, that was all well and good but, ahem, between you and me, it kind of went to that big brindle head of hers. It got to where she refused to take off the ambassadog sash and she was always shining up her tiara. I know, I know. Doesn’t seem like Mayzie, right? But when there’s a tiara involved, strange things can happen.

Then the other day, the phone rings and guess who’s on the other line? Rachael Ray! (Note from mom: it was an email and it wasn’t from Miss Ray but around here, one learns not to fight it.)

So Mayzie’s all, “Oh! Miss Rachael is calling for ME! Wait a sec while I shine up my tiara.” But as it turns out, no! RR (that’s what I call her…RR) wants to talk to ME.

See, it turns out that she has developed a new food called NUTRISH for CATS and she wondered if I, Smudge, would be interested in being a Nutrish DiploCat!! Well, of course, I said yes!

rachael-ray-nutrish-for-cats-logoThe next thing you knew, a box arrived with my very own sash. No tiara but that was okay. I just went and found mom’s old graduation cap which totally makes me look uber dignified. Ranger says that DiploCats don’t wear graduation caps but how would he know? I mean, he’s a DOG.

Anyway, we’re all super excited about this new cat food around here because…

1. It’s Super Wholesome

RR’s food was inspired by recipes that SHE makes for herself! Plus, it’s got yummy and healthy stuff like real meat and it doesn’t have by-products, fillers, or junk ingredients so it’s seriously good stuff.

2. It Comes in Wet AND Dry

Now here’s the thing…I REALLY love dry food. But then we found out I have a stone sitting around in one of my kidneys. (I have NO idea how it got there. I did NOT eat it, I swear.) So the vet guy says, “Smudge needs more water to keep that stone where it belongs and to keep others from showing up. You ought to think about adding wet food to his diet.” Which was A-OK by me. So it’s nice that RR came out with both kinds.

3. Rachael’s Rescue Rocks!

As Mayzie has told you in the past, RR donates some of the proceeds from the sale of her food to help animals in need. So far, Rachael’s Rescue has donated more than $6MILLION to help less fortunate four-leggers. So that means whenever you buy Nutrish food, YOU are helping make a difference in the lives of others. Pretty nifty, huh?

4. You Can Find It Right in Your Grocery Store

Okay, I don’t really care all that much about this but Mom seems to think it’s super duper pawsome that she can just pick up our food when she goes to pick up THEIR food. Humans get excited about crazy things sometimes.

Anyway, to find out where your human can buy it, click on this linkie here.

5. They gave us a coupon to give to you!

Now, as we all know, humans LOVE to save those green papers. So Nutrish gave us a coupon to give to you. All you have to do is click on this linkie — get a coupon here — and I’m sure it’ll just make your human’s day!

Whew…okay, you let me know if you have any questions. And in the meantime, I’m gonna go take a nap. Who knew being a DiploCat would be so exhausting? YAWN!

Nutrish Community Outreach: Mom Visits Second Chance

Okay, remember how I told you that I got the super duper terrific honor of being asked to be a Brand Ambassadog for Rachael Ray Nutrish?

Mayzie sash

Well, one of the reasons we luvs them so much is that Miss Rachael gives away a portion of each sale to rescues and shelters through a program called Rachael’s Rescue. And because ALL of us four-leggers in my family are rescues, this is something that’s real near and dear to our hearts.

So as part of being an Ambassadog, the nice Nutrish peoples asked me to do something called “Community Outreach” to a shelter or rescue. Well, we were Most Excited about that because we knew JUST the rescue we wanted to outreach to…Second Chance Animal Rescue Foundation, the rescue that saved ME!

Nutrish sent us a gazillion coupons for their yummy-licious food and treats, which we gave to Second Chance for their own use and to give out to new adopters. This kinda support means SO much to rescues like Second Chance.

Second Chance gives out a welcome packet with all sorts of useful stuff for new adopters.

Then last Saturday, I loaned Mom my Ambassadog Sash (but NOT the tiara) and sent her down to Second Chance’s Adoption Fair and told her to lend a hand and also take lots of pictures. And WOW! Did she ever have a happy-making time watching all the great things that Second Chance does.

Here…I’m gonna hand the bloggie over to her and let her tell you the rest. Take it away, mom!

Thanks, Mayzie.

Second Chance is a small non-profit no-kill rescue located in rural eastern Colorado. They rescue and rehome over 500 dogs, cats and other animals each year. Many of these animals have been dumped on country roads. Others come from nearby high-kill shelters. And still others, like my Mayzie, are rescued from homes where they are suffering from neglect or are simply no longer wanted. Most of these animals are adopted at events in Colorado Springs because the pool of potential adopters is much greater here than in the small town of Lamar where they’re based.

When I arrived on Saturday, their van was just pulling up. They drive three hours each way from Lamar to Colorado Springs to give dogs and cats a second chance at life.

Inside the van were numerous crates filled with lucky dogs and cats. Because they are a small rescue with limited resources, Second Chance can’t possibly take in all the animals in need. Therefore, they work with a wide network of other rescues and humane societies to get pets to safety.

Other dogs, like Hope (below), are Second Chance dogs who were being transported to foster homes in Colorado Springs. Volunteer foster homes are critical to Second Chance and to so many other rescues throughout the country.

After the transfers were completed, it was time for the adoption fair! I was almost overwhelmed by all the cuteness on display.

I am so honored that I got to spend a few hours with the wonderful people at Second Chance. It’s a remarkable organization that makes miracles like Mayzie happen every day. There is no doubt in my mind that if it hadn’t been for them, Mayzie would not be alive and snoring on the couch next to me right now. I wish I could find the words  to adequately describe how grateful I am to them for the amazing work they do. They are an incredible group of dedicated people — almost all volunteers — who work tirelessly to make the world a better place. I am truly in awe of their generosity, their passion, their selflessness and their dedication.

And thank you to Nutrish for giving back in both large and small ways to organizations like Second Chance. It truly takes a village to save a life, and with all of us working together in whatever way we can, more animals will get their second chance.

Too Exciting Tuesday

Hi everybuddy! Boy, do I have some DEE-licious news for you today!

mayzie tongue

Remember how back in May, the nice peoples at Rachael Ray Nutrish sent my mom to BlogPaws?

Well, guess what? Mom must’ve been on her best behavior cuz they decided to send her to BarkWorld, too! She leaves on one of those big airplane things this Thursday to hang out with other pet bloggers and learn oodles of stuff.

Now that’s pretty exciting all by itself and we’re super duper thankful to them for helping mom go. But that’s not even the MOST EXCITING part!

The most exciting part is that Nutrish asked me to be one of their Ambassadogs!

Can you believes it? ME? Little ol’ brindle me…an AMBASSADOG!?

Mayzie sash

Now after I spun around a few times with happiness, mom said we should sit down and think about this. It’s super impawtant to BOTH of us that we work with companies that we can believes in. And you know what? We believes in Nutrish. Not only do they make yummy, good-for-you foodables that don’t cost a paw and a leg, they have a program called Rachael’s Rescue where they donate some of their green papers to help other doggies find their Most Perfect Homes That Ever Were.

PLUS, Miss Rachael has a Most Adorable pit bull named Isaboo and she cares about showing other humans what good doggies us pit bull-types are. And that’s something that’s real near and dear to our hearts, as you know.

So I guess you can probably tell why we’re awful proud to be able to partner up with this Most Fabulous company!

Mayzie bags

And you know what the BEST part is about me being an Ambassadog? I get to share all sorts of great stuff with YOU! Like, for instance, if you go and click on this linkie, your human will get some coupons to save some green papers on Nutrish food for you! How cool is THAT?

So thank you, thank you to the peoples at Rachael Ray Nutrish for asking me to be an Ambassadog AND for sending mom to BarkWorld. Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go polish my tiara.

P.S. Brudder Ranger says REAL Ambassadors don’t wear tiaras. Pfsh! What does HE know?

All Aboard for BlogPaws!

Guess what? The other day, I opened my pee-mail and found the Most Exciting letter and I couldn’t wait to share it with you! I printed it out but then I ate it.

So now I can’t remember ‘zactly word-for-word what it said so I’m just gonna go off of memory and I’m sure I’ll get close. But mom seems to think that’s not good enough and has INSISTED on putting in some things she calls “disclaimers” so just ignore those, okay?

Alrighty, here’s what I think it said:

Dearest Mayzie, (Disclaimer from mom: It wasn’t actually addressed to Mayzie)

My name is Rachael Ray (Disclaimer: It wasn’t actually from Miss Ray). I don’t know if you know who I am but I read your bloggie every single day (Disclaimer: this is doubtful) and I am a big, HUMONGOUS fan of yours (Disclaimer: Oh, forget it. Just assume almost everything in this letter is made up.). I don’t know if you’ve heard of this nifty pet blogger conference coming up called BlogPaws (Disclaimer: Okay, this is actually a real thing) and I would be just over the MOON if you would come as my guest. I’ll even order up some special cheese just for you! Let me know what you think. I can’t wait to hear from you!

Your biggest fan,

Well, I literally fell on the floor with excitements!

See, I think Miss Rachael is the best. It’s pawsible she might actually luvs foodables as much as I do and the stuff she makes on TV looks DEE-lish! Oh, and I like the way she says, “YUMM-OH!” whenever she eats something she really likes.

Plus, she not only makes HUMAN noms, she makes dog noms, too!

Rachael Ray NutrishPlus, she has a super Most Adorable pit bull named Isaboo.

PLUS, PLUS, PLUS (and this is the BEST plus!)…she has a program called Rachael’s Rescue where she donates some of the green papers she makes from her dog food to rescues like North Shore Animal League and BAD RAP.

Now, I was all set to pack my bags when I realized that I would have to fly on a plane to get to BlogPaws cuz it’s all the way in this place called Tyson’s Corner, Virginia. And between you and me, I think that there’s a reason the Big Brindle in the Sky didn’t give me wings. I’m pretty sure I’m s’posed to keep all four paws on the ground.

But THEN, I had a super great idea and so I wrote back asking if mom could come in my place. Well, as you can imagine, Miss Rachael was a teensy bit disappointed but she said okay. Isn’t that PAWSOME?

So off mom goes to BlogPaws next week courtesy of the super nice peoples at Nutrish! When I told her, I thought mom was gonna pee her pants she was so excited! She can’t wait to meet all the other crazy mentally well-balanced pet people and some of our bloggie furends in person! Plus, she knows she’s going to learn oodles of stuff while she’s there, too!

I'm going to BlogPaws 2013 badge

So thank you, thank you to Rachael Ray’s Nutrish for giving us this Most Amazing opportunity! And if any of you are going — or sending your mom or dad — let us know so mom can be on the lookout for you, okay?

And for those of you who aren’t going, there will be a pawty in my condo while mom’s away. But, um, let’s just let that be our little secret, okay?
